With in-person events now possible again, we look forward to marking the release of Channel Issue 6 with launches both online and in Dublin. Whichever event suits you best, we can’t wait to celebrate with you!

Issue 6 is now available for order via our online store. Those who can afford to further support our work may consider subscribing to Channel to receive each new issue upon its release, or becoming a patron to also receive access to our digital archive of back issues as well as acknowledgement in print and online.

Online Launch via YouTube Premiere

The online launch of Channel Issue 6 will take place via YouTube Premiere at 8.00pm on Poetry Day Ireland, Thursday 28 April 2022.

Although we look forward to reconnecting with some of our local readers and contributors at this issue’s in-person launch, our digital launches—which have made it possible to stay connected throughout the pandemic with readers, writers and artists worldwide—form an essential part of our work and we will continue to make these part of each issue’s launch celebrations into the future. Whether or not you can join us for the in-person launch of Issue 6, we hope you’ll enjoy the insights this online event offers into the global creative community that sustains our work.

The online launch will feature readings by Irish and international contributors drawn from a pool of over 1300 submissions, along with photography capturing the settings that have inspired their work. We love the writing gathered in this issue—piercing, clear-sighted work that alarms and uplifts in equal measure—and we can’t wait to share it with you all.

Also featured will be an introduction to the work of our Issue 6 cover artist, Gerry Blake, a photographic artist based in Co. Wicklow whose practice looks at the individual in their surroundings and explores how we are shaped by the environmental situations in which we find ourselves. Gerry’s current exhibition, Home Place, opened in the Municipal Gallery, dlr LexIcon, Dún Laoghaire, on 25 March. His project Into the Sea, from which this issue’s cover image is taken, examines the ritual aspect of the regular sea swimming practiced at many bathing places along the coastline of Dublin.

The launch video will be viewable below at the time of its release, or open the link in YouTube to chat with other readers and contributors during the event.
